Final project - Shr Jin Run

Link to ppt. to view the history of HK temple

When I was in charge taking care Hong Kong, one time there was a laity (old disciple), she told me that when late DM Yi (the 1st Bhikshuni) left home at that time, DM Yi was living in Tze Hing Monastery. Shrfu was very protecting left-home people's cultivation. Shrfu went out in the morning and came back at night to buy all thing such as food, equipments, woods that needs for the monastery. He has to carry heavy load stuff and brought up to the mountain. DM Yi stayed in the monastery to attend all her Buddha's homework, studies and work on farmland. Not only DM Yi was there, actually there was many of our left-home people live there. Shrfu did not allowed them to go out but stay in the monastery to cultivate. Shrfu brought everything back for them. Shrfu is very protecting them. He gave them a good place to cultivate and did not have to worry too much.

When Shrfu entering nirvana, an old disciple in Hong Kong told me that at that time there was an old man jogging on the mountain, he heard there was a group of people chanting beautiful music, lining up properly and carrying something heavy like a coffin toward Tze Hing Monastery. The whole area was emitted light. He heard music like coming from the heaven. When the old man got close to the monastery, he ask the laity that wasn't there was a big ceremony helding on now.

Lantau Island has many temples located on the mountain. It is an island where many left-home people cultivate there. A place that fill up spiritual energy. Tze Hing Monastery is located far away from the town, behind several mountain. It took an hour and a half to walk there once you stop from a bus station. There are several carves close to that area such as Arhat cave, Snake cave, Monkey cave and Buddha cave. When DM Yi was a laity working at Tze Hing Monastery, there was a time a monkey running down to see DM Yi, he want to take refuge. DM Yi told the monkey that Shrfu is in Ultimate Blis Temple, he has to go there to see him. The monkey left. Not long later, the monkey came to see DM Yi and he show DM Yi that he took the refuge with Shrfu and he got the refuge certificate book to clarify he took the refuge. He shows DM Yi.

Shrfu was very young when he was at Hong Kong. His disciples are older than him. During that time many of them did not know Shrfu is a good cultivator, a higher monk. One time there was a woman went to Buddhist Lecture Hall, her friend bring her to see Shrfu and told her how great Shrfu was. This woman didn't believe it. She didn't understand much about Buddhism. Actually this woman is a very nice person and she went finally. When the woman came to BLH, Shrfu was having lecture with the disciples, she saw a golden man sitting in the middle which emitting golden light that she barely open her eye. From that on, she truely understand Shrfu is a very special person. She took refuge.

Buddhist Lecture Hall has a huge white jade Shakamuni Buddha image, it was a gift given by Tailand King to Shrfu, the image was touched with golden fine line. Whoever come by the door will see the Buddha smiling to you. This is a very adornable image all people like to see. When I do the remodelling of BLH few years ago, fortunately I have a condition to find a person who' s job is touching gold on image. Because of so many years, it get dirty and gold were worn out. He touch the gold exactly the same as before. The four column walls has Shrfu verses written there and the 18 arhat pictures under the alter table has also been touch with gold. The BLH now is look very bright and adornable. Below are some of the pictures. Beside, this year we also bought back Shrfu another unit which is next to BLH . We will move in next year.

  1. Jin Run Shr,

I didn't realize that Tze Tsing Monastery on Lantau Island was so far away from the ferry.

The Buddha image in HK is indeed adorned, like the ones in the Long LIfe Hall at CTTB. I always thought looked more Thia that Chinese. Are they also from Thailand.
